Original Canterbury Pitt 5 Berth Camper
Sold
We are selling our right hand drive UK original Canterbury
Pitt camper. There’s not many of these left now as most RHD UK campers have
rotted away over the years.
We are only the 4th owners from new and always
keep it garaged.
It comes with a full 12 months MOT. (expires 8th
April 2012)
Road tax exempt.
It’s ready to drive away and begin camping.
It has a 1641cc twinport engine with dual Kadron carbs
fitted so it ticks along nicely at 65mph.
The rear suspension has been converted to IRS using a
Creative Engineering IRS kit. It has a VW type 3 gearbox and type 3 wide five
pattern rear hubs.
The IRS conversion and the engine build was carried out by
Type 2 Detectives when the previous owner had the camper.
We’ve travelled all over the place with it, doing a few
trips down to Cornwall and up to the lake district and it’s never let us down.
Sleeps 5
It has space to sleep two adults in the back, two children
in the bunks in the elevating roof and another child can sleep in the
cot/hammock that goes above the front seats.
It’s also fitted with three full seat belts in the front
and two seatbelts on the rear facing seats in the back so all the family can
feel secure in their seats.
It has the full Canterbury Pitt interior complete with door
mounted gas cooker, sink, cupboards, drawers, table, shaving mirror, original
coat hangers.
It has a new poptop canvas fitted and a fairly rare
matching door canopy. We still have
the original canvas and door canopy for the camper as well.
We’ve fitted a leisure battery and split charging system
so that all the auxiliary/camping electrics run off that and the starting
battery remains fully charged when camping.
Both the handbrake and the gear stick have been fitted with
extensions so they as easy to reach for those of you with shorter arms.
It also has a Watling towbar with electric socket fitted so
you can take a trailer on your camping trips.
It has a bike rack bracket fitted to the towbar so you can
quickly attach the bike carrier and take your bikes with you.
The rear arches have been repaired in the past and could do
with being redone with the correct aftermarket metal. It’s nothing major and
more of a tidying up job rather than an essential repair.
Some of the paintwork has been blended in with a slightly
different shade of VW sea blue.
One of the previous owners fitted speakers into some of the
wooden units.
